June Mangano - Youth Summit 2023

A 4-H’er from Alleghany County attended the twelfth annual North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC) Youth Summit held in Raleigh, North Carolina on August 25th & 26th, 2023. North Carolina 4-H and the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service partnered for the twelfth year with the NCACC on this multi-year initiative to increase youth involvement in county government. This initiative helps youth learn more about county government as well as how to become more involved in local decision making.

We are extremely proud of June Mangano, a freshman at Alleghany High School and active Alleghany 4-Her,  who attended this event representing Alleghany County. In addition, June attended a County Commissioners meeting where she presented to the group about this opportunity. The event is sponsored and supported by the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners.

For more information on the Alleghany 4-H program, please contact Amy Lucas at amy_lucas@ncsu.edu or by phone at 336-372-5597.

4-H is North Carolina’s largest youth development organization, equipping 261,000 young people each year with the skills to succeed and improve the world around them. 4-H programs and camps encourage young people to “learn by doing,” helping them to develop into active, contributing citizens. NC State Extension and the Cooperative Extension Program at N.C. A&T State University coordinate 4-H programs statewide.
