If you are a 4-H agent or Program Assistant who will hatch out chicks with 4-H Embryology, please join us for a training to learn about Marek’s Disease and how to vaccinate chicks. Marek’s is a disease ubiquitous in the environment that can cause death. Marek’s is NOT treatable but is PREVENTABLE with vaccination. Biosecurity: B – Bird Boots – keep coop boots (& clothes) at home E – Eliminate Exposure- to other birds S – Super Soap – clean clothes, vehicles, etc. that have contact with flocks T- Tell a veterinarian if you see symptoms of AI in any birds (NC State Veterinary Office at 919-707-3250 or NC Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory System at 919-733-3986). Biosecurity measures will be in place at this event, and the number of participants will be limited.
